Serena Williams will be executive producing alongside Netflix a new adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's work, this time 'Carrie Soto Is Back', another one of her best selling novels and a sports drama about a veteran Tennis player coming out of retirement in order to reclaim the record that a younger player just took from her.
Netflix is currently scouting for the director and cast of another Taylor Jenkin Reid adaptation, her most famous novel 'The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo', a live action that has been in the works for quite some years now, even before 'Daisy Jones & The Six' TV series came out, but they are now making another series before the highly anticipated movie.
It's only natural that tennis legend Serena Williams is going to be participating in this, alongside showrunner and writer Amanda Kate Shuman ('The Wheel Of Time'), also executive producing this.
Production will probably be starting later this year, when we will be finding out the faces of Carrie Soto, the retired 37 years old player coming back to reclaim her title against Nicki Chan, a younger British athlete that she will have to face in one final season to take back her title.
'Carrie Soto Is Back' will obviously tap into the insecurities of Carrie thinking that she's too old to be doing this and that her time is past, struggling with the feeling that your peak is behind you and everything is downhill from there, besides her having to go back to people she didn't want to encounter again in order to get in shape for the US Open and having the chance to beat Nicki.
Romance, drama, personal exploration and much other important themes are in the book and we expect that the TV writers can adapt it properly to screen.
