According to Deadline's exclusive, actress and producer Sarah Michelle Gellar will lead a new TV series for A+E Studios and Linden Entertainment, while executive producing as well. The series, an adaptation of the best selling novel by Emma Rosenblum "Bad Summer People".
Writer and producer Cara DiPaolo, known for shows like Netflix's 'Dead To Me' and 'No Good Deed', will be another of the executive producers and the main writer of this adaptation, which doesn't have a streaming service yet.
Linden Entertainment and A+E Studios will develop it before selling the distribution rights to a streamer like Netflix or HBO, allegedly to have full control of the show in the development process since they want this to be as bold and daring as possible.
In 'Bad Summer People' Sarah Michelle Gellar will star as one of the two rich women protagonists of this story, both vacationing in the fictional town of Salcombe were they go every summer to keep pretending about their perfect lives, but everything goes wrong when a dead body appears at the side of the boardwalk. With this, their masks will star cracking and all the things they keep hiding for appearances will start to show.
In the same vein of hit series like 'The White Lotus', this will be a close study of interpersonal relationships and conversations around class and other current topics, and we don't think it will be long until we heaar about who will be starring opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar, since production might be starting really soon.
