After years and years of rumours about a new 'Scooby-Doo' live action in the form of a series was going to happen, first for The CW, then for HBO, but it is Netflix who takes the reins of this new adaptation, with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg set as writers of the pilot and executive producers, with their company Midnight Radio.
The live action will have 8 episodes and will happen around the time the gang initially met for the first time in a camp, where they have to team up to investigate the mystery of a lonely puppy and a supernatural murder.
Throughout the years 'Scooby-Doo' has been one of the most beloved intellectual properties, with multiple live action and animated films, as well as multiple remakes of the animated series, but they have never had a live action series, and the fans have been begging for something like this since series like 'Riverdale' started becoming more popular.
With the screenplay for the pilot being ready, the casting process is probably closer than we think which is definitely one of the most fun parts of live action adaptations.
Let's hope that the showrunners make the best decisions possible so the project can rise to popularity and not ending up canceled like it often happens with Netflix productions, since this is an IP that has a lot to offer.
We might be seeing more about this project by the second half of the year and with some luck this will become one of Netflix's staple shows like 'Wednesday' or 'Stranger Things'.
