Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are producing a live action adaptation of 'Incidents Around the House', the best-selling novel of American author Josh Malerman, with Jessica Chastain set to star and Universal Pictures set to distribute the film when it's time for it.
Not only does it have Oscar winner Jessica Chastain as one of the leads, but also has horror legend James Wan as the producer, and is the return of horror filmmaker Rob Savage, known for films like 'Host' or 2023's 'The Boogeyman'. TV writer Nathan Elston ('Succession') is adapting the novel to screenplay, with this being his first feature film.
Of course, with the project being in such early stages of development, the details about the actual plot or what role will Chastain be playing are not out for the public yet, but if the novel is any indication of what to expect, 'Incidents Around the House' will be 'Coraline' meets 'The Boogeyman'.
In the novel, an entity that presents as "Other Mommy" torments a household, more specifically, eight years old Bela, asking night by night if she can go inside Bela's heart and growing impatient when the answer is not what this entity wants, putting everyone in the house in danger and letting only this defenseless child have the power to stop it.
If the production pretends to move forward this year, we'll be hearing more about the cast and cew behind it in the second half of the year, including the child actor that will have the task of leading this cast.
