One of the most anticipated movies of the year, 'Sinner's, is opening in theaters tomorrow and already aiming for a big opening weekend in the domestic box office with $40 to $50 Million.
This is Ryan Coogler's comeback since 2022's 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', with his last original film being 2015's 'Creed', and no different for those movies, he's writing, directing and producing this film too, with his usual collaborator Michael B. Jordan coming back to lead this new period movie.
Vampires are widely popular, it is not a secret to anyone, and Coogler's main motivation with this movie was to redifine this genre and give it more nuance by everything happening during the 1930's in a rural area. With racial themes being front and center of the plot.
Besides Michael B. Jordan, the main cast includes Miles Caton in his feature film debut, Hailee Steinfeld ('Bumblebee'), Jayme Lawson ('The Woman King') and Jack O'Connell ('Skins'), all of which have been receiving praise for their acting job in this movie.
'Sinner's currently holds 98% of positive reviews and is "Certified Fresh" in Rotten Tomatoes with over 140 reviews at the moment and a 84 Metascore and "Metactritics Must-See" seal on Metacritic, making it one of the first widely praised films of 2025.
If it does earn $40 to $50 Million at the domestic box office, that would make it the highest opening for an original film since Jordan Peele's 'NOPE', so let's hope that will open the door to more original productions in the future and that the hype can bring more and more people to the theaters to live this experience.
