The adaptation for Adam Cesare's 'Clown In A Cornfield' novel has been in the works since early 2020, even before its release to the public, with Temple Hill Entertainment holding the rights for the movie, but it wasn't until late 2023 that they ended filming, with the film premiering just a couple of weeks ago on the 2025 SXSW Festival.
Eli Craig, director of the 2017's film 'Little Evil', is the one directing this adaptation, working on the screenplay alongside Carter Blanchard, with the final result landing them a distribution deal with RLJE Films and Shudder, who will eventually put the film up on their streaming service.
'Clown In A Cornfield' received majority of positive reviews after the screening at the festival, with attendees calling it a nice slasher that knows when to be gory and when to be funny, currently holding 92% of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with 25 reviews so far, before releasing to wide audiences on May 9, 2025.
The film features up and coming talents like Katie Douglas ('Ginny & Georgia') in her first main role, and Carson MacCormac ('Shazam'), with some other first timers like Cassandra Potenza, Verity Marks and Vincent Muller, accompanied by some more seasoned talent like Kevin Durand ('The Butterfly Effect'), Will Sasso ('The Three Stooges') and Aaron Abrams ('Code 8).
Following teenager Quinn Maybrook (Douglas) and his father (Abrams) as they move to a small town in the middle of nowhere Missouri after the tragic death of her mother, only to trap themselves in the middle of a killing spree by someone dressing as the town's mascot, Frendo The Clown.
Make sure you're going to check it when it comes out this may, if you're up for some bloody fun time.
