We're just a couple of weeks from the theatrical release of the newest 'Snow White' live action remake by Walt Disney Pictures, after green lighting the project back in 2016, almost 10 years ago.
The movie has Erin Cressida Wilson ('Secretary') as the main writer, and although initially filmmaker Greta Gerwig was going to co-write with Wilson, she's ultimately an uncredited writer for the film. On the other hand, Marc Webb is the director behind 'Snow White', known for his classic romance dramedy '(500) Days of Summer'.
Lately, the Disney live actions have been receiving some push back from consumers, calling them dull and uninteresting, taking all the color and personality for the original animated films, so it looks like this time they are trying for something different, bringing a new life to the beloved character while mainting the whimsical environment of the world.
Color is bright and musical numbers look big and flamboyant in the trailers we have seen, so the expectations for this new iteration of the first Disney princess are high.
The movie and its casts has been full of controversies right from the get go, back in 2021 when Rachel Zegler ('West Side Story') joined the project as Snow White, bigots were talking left and right about her not being white enough to play the role.
Later on, when Gal Gadot joined as the Evil Queen, people online were pointing about her past as an IDF member, while Rachel Zegler was vocally pro-palestine, and rumours have been growing quickly now that it's time for the press tour of the movie and the co-stars seem to not like each other.
Andrew Burnap and Ansu Kabia are the other main characters joining the movie as Jonathan, the main love interest, and the Huntsman working for the Evil Queen respectively.
The tickets are on pre-sale now, so make sure to grab them while you can, so you can enjoy this revival on the big screen.
