Back in 2023, after finalizing the hybrid animation film 'Coyote Vs. Acme', Warner Bros publically announced that they wouldn't be releasing it to theaters and instead would be making a tax write off for the film for over $30 million and shelving the project despite the efforts of the team to make the best of the best.
Just like other Looney Tunes iconic live actions films like 'Space Jam', the film will be a hybrid between 2D animation and live action, with iconic comedic actor Will Forte ('22 Jump Street') leading the film opposite John Cena ('Blockers').
'Coyote Vs. Acme' by director Dave Green with a screenplay by Samy Burch ('May December'), based on an story by James Gunn and Jeremy Slater, the film it's a legal drama and comedy following the lawsuit of Wile E. Coyote to the company Acme, and his lawyer (Will Forte) as he tries to win the case against the intimidating representative for Acme in court (John Cena).
The film also has Lana Condor ('To All The Boys'), P. J. Byrne ('A Complete Unknown'), Tone Bell ('Trigger Warning') and Martha Kelly ('Marriage Story') in the cast, playing other important people for the case, but our main interest is the friendship between Coyote and his lawyer.
Ketchup Entertainment is now trying to buy the film to release it on theaters for 2026, after doing the same with a 'The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie' when Warners didn't want to distribute them themselves. The deal is not official yet, but apparently Warner Bros. is asking for $50 million in order to sign, so let's wait and see if the film can premiere in 2026.
