Deadpool and Wolverine, which hits theaters later this month, will be the only Marvel Studios movie we will see this year. However, the company continues with plans to expand its vast universe and that has reached a host of animated productions. The resounding success of X-Men '97 is only the beggining. There will be other notable productions such as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda.
According to Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel, this latest production could be one of the most important to date as it will connect to the present, past and future of this complex universe. In a recent interview, the executive explained, "This is a story about the history of Wakanda. It's produced by Ryan Coogler, directed by Todd Harris, who is one of our longtime storyboard artists. It's an awesome series, the action is insane, the storytelling is fantastic."
"It deals with the history of Wakanda, but it also spans the UCM in different time periods. So if you're a fan of the movies, I think this series is going to be a real treat," added Winderbaum. As announced, this animated series will explore in depth the history and mythology of the fictional country of Wakanda, birthplace of the hero known as Black Panther.
The series will follow the various leaders of this nation and the Dora Milaje as they track down vibranium artifacts throughout history. Eyes of Wakanda will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024. However, there's no exact information about its arrival on the streaming platform. We'll keep you posted for updates!
