Kelly Hope Taylor

1978-08-11

Kelly Hope Taylor is a Canadian actor, writer, producer and educator. Born in North Bay, Ontario, to musician parents, Kelly always had musical and artistic influences growing up.

Raised in a military family, she and her family moved around a lot during her childhood.

Kelly believes this may be the reason why acting comes so naturally because "as the new kid, you're always thrown into new situations and have to feel the room out- know how to fit in in order to survive being the new kid at school".

Kelly's high school years found her in every stage show possible in her community- participating in the unique entity of TOROS- Theatre Outreach On Stage- a musical theatre program for large casts of 100+ performers ages 13-25.

Kelly's theatre training has given her a strong foundation on which to build her film and television career. One of her first big roles was guest starring on the Taye Digg's series Kevin Hill (2005) also starring Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).

Beyond acting, Kelly also writes, coaches actors, and produces. One of her writing and producing projects (2010) for a Canadian skincare brand went viral on YouTube with over 5 million views.

Her original podcast (2015) reached "New and Noteworthy" within three weeks of its release.

Recognized for its quirky humour, absurd audio improvisations and timely content, it stood out as a refreshing alternative to the saturated podcast market, showcasing two female hosts with a humourous Canadian bent.

Kelly's role as award-winning news anchor Susan Andrews in the book-to-film adaptation "Good Sam" (2019) was released internationally in over 83 different countries through the media service Netflix.

The film garnered some international attention and is lauded for its diverse casting and positive representation of women in film. Kelly often works between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal.
